Hair loss commonly arises on patients who had a malabsorptive procedures such as the gastric bypass, mini-gastric bypass, or duodenal switch. On these type of procedures, the nutrients (fat, protein, vitamins, etc) pass through a shortened intestine where they have less opportunity to be absorbed. Less nutrients a...

RECOMMENDED “SOFT FOODS” – POST BARIATRIC SURGERY DIET

Image
Soft and blended food (3rd Phase)   If you had weight loss surgery and you just passed without any problem or discomfort the 1st phase (Clear liquids) and 2nd phase (Liquids), you may be ready to incorporate pureed, soft and blended food into your daily diet. The soft foods phase is followed 20 days post surgery.  The soft food stage must be initiated with “baby food texture” choices; foods that can be easily crushed with a fork or mixed to a ‘slurry’ with almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk or water (Avoid the daily consumption of dairy products). You may stay on this phase for as little as 10 days or for 2-3 weeks, once you feel signs of satisfaction on your stomach you can gradually advance into thicker textures. Keep in mind that your new stomach is just healing and recovering from surgery, learn to listen to your body and STOP eating once you feel satisfied, it’s better to eat 3 to 5 times per day in small portions so you can get enough nutrition without pushing ...

Patient support tools – Weight losssurgery in Tijuana Mexico    To talk about carbs, it’s important to know that not all carbohydrates affect the body in the same way. Some carbohydrates are rapidly absorbed and cause blood sugar levels to quickly rise after eating them, for example white bread, white rice, potatoes, candies. These types of carbs have a high glycemic index (the glycemic index is a measure of how quickly food glucose is absorbed), which makes easier to your body to absorb sugar and convert it in to fat. Other carbs, move slowly through the digestive system and much of it isn't digested at all. These types of carbs are insoluble fiber; you can find it on fruits, whole grains, and vegetables.
